The reason are 2 different publishers for physical / digital. Also apparently the physical version doesn't get patches, while the digital version does. I've also heard that the digital and physical versions of DP1 are separate, so savegames do not carry over. My Switch version of DP1 crashed about 3-4 times during 1 playthrough, while DP2 hasn't crashed at all. Unless you got the PC version fixed, their ranking was I saw a video of someone comparing all DP1 versions. I'll definitely play through it a 2nd time Overall I am happy with the game and how it fits into the overall story. Also, I was disappointed that I could not look through windows and stalk people. Director Hidetaka ‘Swery’ Suehiro has apparently shelved his Twin Peaks box set in favour of binge-watching season one of True Detective, because Deadly Premonition 2’s story structure is.
Gameplay wise the framerate was no issue for me, but a few side quests felt dull, especially since the rewards are forgettable. Story wise there are a few unanswered questions I would've liked to be solved, but overall the characters are quite good and the main cast was believable to me. I will not get into details, but you can see that the cases of DP1 and 2 really changed Zach. I really liked how DP1 and 2 were connected. It was an oxymoron of character development and unpredictable storytelling. I had my first playthrough today and was emotionally touched at the end. The first Deadly Premonition was an anomaly, a seemingly unintentional oddity that enjoyed cult success by happenstance.
